I bought a used car recently and when I turn the car on, I noticed there is a crack near the radiator cap and small amounts of water drip and lots of vapor comes out of the radiator. I let the car run for about 10 minutes, it stopped letting out vapor for a while, and a few minutes later I noticed water was starting to come out again. I kept checking the temeperature gauge and it didnt move. It was just in the middle. The car's water pump belt had to be replaced when I bought it because the car overheated and the mechanic did put coolant in the radiator. What could I do about this? Is this a very serious problem? I just went through this, and tried every cheapo repair in the world while we saved up to replacce the radiator. mind you radiators aren't too expensive. but times are tough. have the radiator repaired Sounds like the filler neck on the rad is cracked. I would try a new rad cap first. Less than $10. You need a new radiator. You can't keep driving it like that, it won't hold pressure and will boil over, and the crack will get bigger and bigger till it splits, and you lose all your coolant, and maybe overheat and wreck the car. Either fill it in with acrylic or have the Radiator replaced. if its the cap leaking then replace it. if it the radiator than you can have it repaired, replaced or go to parts store and get some wet weld and see it you can fix it yourself. While the Escape Hybrid may have some rather unconventional power train items, including the three-foot-wide battery under the cargo area, the air filter is essentially the same as the one found in a non-hybrid model Escape. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Clean rag Replacement air filter Step by Step : 1 Raise the hood on your Escape. Wipe down the air-filter housing with a clean rag and then release the clamps that hold the air-filter housing cover closed. 2 Pull the top of the air-filter housing away from the bottom, carefully. Make sure not to let any surface dirt or debris get inside the air-filter housing. 3 Lift the old air filter out by hand and wipe the area clean with the rag. 4 Insert the new air filter into the same position the old one occupied. Make sure not to let the outer gasket stick out of the air-filter housing. 5 Put the top of the air-filter housing back on, taking care not to crush the filter gasket in between the two halves of the housing. 6 Re-engage the clamps that hold the air-filter housing closed.
